How do I… — step-by-step answers for singers, directors and administrators.
Joining a choir (Choir Members)
Nothing to install and no account — you just need to be on the same Wi-Fi as the director’s PC.
On the same Wi-Fi as the director’s computer, open the web address shown on the director’s console in your phone’s browser — or scan its QR code. Then tap Choir Member / Accompanist. If the director set a join PIN, type it to get in.
After you join, tap your voice part from the list (soprano, alto, tenor, bass…). Put in an earbud: your part sounds clearly above the others, and every phone stays in sync.
Tap where your name shows (“Click to type your name”) and enter it, so the director can see who has joined.
Keep the browser tab open and your phone awake. If it drifts, the director can tap Force Sync to line every phone back up, or you can leave and re-join. The phone that is providing a hotspot usually can’t also join as a member.
Practicing on your own (Solo Practice)
Sign in and practice a part by yourself — no choir or director needed.
Sign in and choose Open my practice space. Add a song (from the collections, a MIDI file, a recording or your own sheet music), pick the part you want to learn, and play. Your part sounds above the others so you can follow it.
Open a song’s sheet music and you can: click anywhere on the music to set the playback position and start from that spot; adjust the Tempo (click it to reset to 100%, as written); and zoom in / out or tap a system to enlarge it. Turn on the metronome for an audible click on every beat (on your device only).
Search the built-in collections with Select song ▾ (narrow it with Collections ▾), draw from the royalty-free database, or bring your own MIDI, recording or sheet music.
Hosting a rehearsal (directors)
The host app turns the director’s PC into a local server that choir members join over Wi-Fi.
Download the host app from your account page, unzip it, and double-click Install Choir & Chorus. It sets up what it needs, opens the firewall so phones can connect, and adds Choir & Chorus to your Desktop and Start menu.
Open Choir & Chorus and tap Sign in. Use your Email & password, or your License code from your account page (handy on a shared chapel PC). Your plan decides what opens.
Make sure phones are on the same Wi-Fi as the PC, then share the address or QR code on the console. If Windows asks about the firewall, allow it (or run allow-firewall.bat once).
On the console choose Require a PIN for Choir Members to join… and set a code. Use Remove PIN / No PIN to open it back up.
Open console runs a live choir rehearsal that members join. Open my practice space is just for you — practicing on your own with no choir connected.
Songs & sheet music
Tap Create song. Pull one from the collections with Select song ▾ (narrow the search with Collections ▾), upload A MIDI file, or bring your own Sheet music or MusicXML.
Choose Choose a score… (or Use your own PDF or photo instead). The app reads the score and separates it into voice parts you can play and practice.
Right-click (or press and hold) the Sheet music › button and make notations for the reader. Then choose Read with these notations for a cleaner read, or Read without notations.
Open a song’s sheet music and the reader scrolls as the music plays, following along and highlighting your place. Change how soon the pane moves ahead (higher is faster), and use Highlight Nudge to fine-tune the highlight if it drifts.
Open the part and choose Upload a file for this part to swap in your own recording or MIDI.
On Individual plans and up, use Download its sheet music and the export options. (Solo Practice can read and practice from music but not save or export it.)
Running a rehearsal & recording
Press Play — every joined phone starts within a few milliseconds. Use Force Sync to realign, or rewind to the start and play to restart the passage.
Hold the talk control to speak to every connected phone (tap to latch it on, tap again to release).
Tap Record My Song (⏺), sing, then ■ Stop. Turn on “Hear while recording other parts” to sing along with the rest. Recordings can be downloaded, one part or all as a zip.
A program is the meeting’s running order — its hymns, prayers and talks. Add a Program script (upload or paste the spoken program), then use Program timer / Start program clock to time the whole thing, and bookmark measures to jump around quickly.
Settings & customization
Open Settings to make it yours: switch dark mode on or off and pick a color theme, change the text size, set your director name, and choose what to call a “choir” (chorus, ensemble, your own word). It’s also where you set the tiny timing offset (earlier/later by 20 ms) if a room’s audio runs ahead or behind.
In Settings, use Save folders → Choose a folder on this PC to pick where songs, recordings and programs are stored. Everything stays on your computer, in the folders you choose.
Open Settings for the Terms & Privacy links, and use Send to support to email the team your question (with a log attached to help us help you). You can also write to [email protected].
Your account & plan
From your account page, pick another plan. Moving up is charged now (less what’s left of your current plan); moving down credits your next bill; canceling stops auto-renew and runs to the end of what you paid for.
It’s on your account page. Use it to sign the host app in on any of your own PCs — keep it to yourself, since anyone with it can host on your account.
Institutions (administrators)
In your institution console, enter the director’s email and create the account, then the invitation is sent for them to set a password and sign in. Each account uses one of your professional seats.
In the console’s Administrators section, add their email. If they don’t have an account yet, one is created and an invitation is sent.
Administrators manage accounts only — they don’t get the app themselves. If one needs app access, add them as one of your director accounts too, and they’ll get an invite like any other director.
